Depart at 15:00 from your hotel towards Marafa canyon, approximately 30km north-east of Malindi. Marafa, locally called "Nyari" (the place that breaks by itself), is a spectacular geological depression carved from sandstone over centuries, with coloured gorges in continuous evolution. Legend has it the canyon formed as divine punishment against a wealthy Giriama family who bathed in milk. A local guide leads the group along a 3km trail through the gorges, lit by the warm colours of the setting sun. Return to hotel after 19:00.
